Severn Bridge

Severn Bridge

Two spans of the awesome Severn Railway Bridge were lost after a drifting oil barge collided with it on the night of 25th October 1960. Its remains were filmed by an amateur cameraman soon after.

The structure was finally demolished in 1965. Although much of it was sold for scrap, 15 of the remaining 22 spans were apparently sold, intact, for use in other parts of the world, such as Chile!
