On this day 94 years ago, a man ran down the track from Drewton Tunnel to tell the signalman at Little Weighton that Drewton East box was on fire.
Take a trip aboard a steam train from Parton to Kirkcowan by way of Newton Stewart, on south-west Scotland’s forgotten Portpatrick Railway. Along the way, you’ll pass over the line’s two iconic structrures: Loch Ken and Big Water of Fleet viaducts.
